Estimated Recovery Time after Face Lift
The recovery time following a face lift procedure will depend on the type of surgery the patient underwent, the number of surgical procedures performed and how the patient has followed or not the doctor’s instructions. In other words, the recovery will take longer in those people who, in addition to the face lift, also performed a neck stretch and it would take longer in those people who performed face lift deeper and more defined than those who preferred something more natural.
Day One After Face Lift Surgery
At the end of surgery, anesthesia will have already lost its effect and it is likely that the patient begins to feel dizzy, nauseous and in some cases fever, but there is no reason to worry.
In most cases, patients will not only be blindfolded, but also may get attached the drainage tubes, which should be used for approximately 48 hours. In the meantime, patients should rest and, above all, follow the doctor’s instructions on how to clean the tubes.
The patient on the first day after surgery is likely to feel more discomfort than the rest of the days, in addition to being noticeably swollen. These symptoms are normal and can be controlled with medicine for pain and inflammation to be prescribed by the patient’s doctor.
To ensure that patient recovery continues smoothly, many doctors recommend their patients to return the next day to ensure the incision looks healthy and the patient should not be absent from the appointment.
Patients are advised to keep adequate rest, so their sutures do not open i.e. they will not be able to perform stressful or forceful activities, but are advised to take short walks inside their room to keep their blood flow active and give rise to a fast and healthy healing, thus, preventing blood clots.
At the end of the first week, in approximate 5 or 7 days after the face lift surgery, the patient should go to the doctor again to remove the sutures, because at this point the incisions if they have been taken care of well, you should already be healthy enough to continue the recovery process and give the skin space to heal, which is why it is so important to follow the specific indications of the surgeon.
As bruising and swelling become less noticeable, the patient will begin to notice the results of face lift, although this may take several weeks, all depending on how the patient’s body responds to surgery.
The patient can resume a normal life generally after two weeks. If the patient follows all the indications of surgeon and attends appointments on time, surely everything will go normally, otherwise, the surgeon may find abnormalities, infections or clots that need to be treated again, which will only make the healing process longer than expected to enjoy full benefits of face lift.
