Co-Occurring-Disorders

Common Co-occurring Disorders

A co-occurring disorder, also known as a dual diagnosis, is often seen with patients in our drug rehab facility.  Let’s discuss the most common co-occurring disorders.

Anxiety

While anxiety is a normal reaction to various stressors, an anxiety disorder is when the anxiety becomes unmanageable. This extreme “fight or flight” state of mind makes it difficult to handle daily tasks, keep a regular job, and maintain healthy relationships.

With anxiety disorder treatment, we will focus on the individual behind the disorder, find the core source of the anxiety, and provide you with myriad coping mechanisms to prevent the anxiety from returning and negatively affecting your life.

Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar disorder, which used to be referred to as manic depression, is a mental health issue that causes severe mood swings, such as manic highs and depressive lows.

When you have bipolar disorder, you may feel hopeless and lose interest in activities you previously enjoyed. When you’re in a manic state, you feel full of energy and at times euphoric, though you may also be unusually irritable. The depressed moods then make it difficult to live a normal life.

While both depression and bipolar are lifelong conditions, you can manage your mood swings with treatment. We have vast experience and training and can help you cope and live a more fulfilling life using holistic and all-natural means of adjusting and regulating mood and behavior.

Codependency

Codependency is a condition characterized by excessive emotional or psychological reliance on a partner, usually caused by the necessity of support due to an illness or addiction.

When you suffer from codependent tendencies, it can be difficult to have healthy, mutually satisfying relationships. Otherwise known as “relationship addiction,” sufferers of this disorder often find themselves in mutually destructive or even abusive relationships.

If you experience this condition, you may feel extreme bouts of shame or guilt. Those who suffer from codependency often feel powerless to break free from the condition on their own.

We offer personalized behavioral therapy sessions and unique one-on-one counseling sessions to help you alleviate your codependent behaviors and form healthy relationships long into the future.

Depression

Depression affects millions of otherwise healthy adults across the United States. While some individuals may experience situational depression, those with severe depressive tendencies can begin to feel symptoms seemingly from out of nowhere. These symptoms can range in severity, with severely depressed individuals sometimes contemplating suicide Visit this web for more details www.sanctuaryoftransformation.com.
